Card Group Fun!

Here are a few of the cards that were swapped at my first card group meeting! It was seriously so much fun, and the girls made fabulous projects, I am so excited about our next get together!
After we swapped cards, we dove into Jennifer's gift bag stash (which was quite impressive!) and decorated gift bags while we chatted and ate loads of yummy snacks!
I was motivated enough to get three bags done. The new Eerie collection that Celeste designed for Basic Grey is seriously amazing, and I just love Halloween, so having a couple little bags on hand for quick gifts is a good idea. And the Cherry Hill collection from October Afternoon makes for a great all purpose bag for one of those surprise, "need it to look good but didn't know in advance about it" kind of moments. I am in the finishing stages of my latest stamp set, and trying to get a few commitments done, so life is hectic in a good way. So happy when I am creating fun things!
Trying hard to find time to get another sneak peek for the sets that release on Tuesday for the All Things Considered line, I am biased, but think that they are very fun and perfect for Fall!

CHF Shimmerz Blog Hop

I am so excited the CHF Creative Chicks are doing a blog hop with the projects we have made using Shimmerz and Cornish Heritage Farms stamps!

This card was so fun to make! I started out by spritzing the Simply Smooth Cardstock with the Baby's Breath Spritz and then helping it dry a little faster with my heat gun. When it was dry, I stamped the Art Nouveau backgrounder with Distress Embossing ink by Ranger. Then heat embossed with Clear Detail Embossing powder by Ranger. I spritzed it lightly again and then applied the Pink Shimmerz paint with a paint brush.
It settled in between the detail embossing beautifully. It has such a fantastic soft shimmer that the picture doesn't do justice to. I am excited because this technique is so quick and easy that a card for a bridal or baby shower would come together in no time.

Cornish Heritage Farms + Shimmerz = Pretty!

Cornish Heritage Farms and Shimmerz did a product swap, and it has been fun to watch the creativity develop!

I started with a sheet of CHF's Simply Smooth cardstock that I spritzed with "Baby's Breath" I hurried the drying process along a little with my heat tool. When it was dry, I stamped Ornamental Vines with Distress Embossing ink by Ranger. Sprinkled Red Pepper Adirondack embossing powder and then heat set. Next came the really fun part, I sprayed some of the Baby's Breath Spritz onto my mixing tray and then used my paint brush to get Fire Engine Red and Pink paints out of their pots and onto the tray. I then painted in a watercolor style, using the pink to loosen the red and the spritz to loosen the pink, very fun! I then heat that as well. I put a little more paint onto the end of my brush and gently tapped to get little splatter for an aged look.
After it is all dry, I trimmed it into three panels and stitched onto a Basic Grey background for a bright pop of color that makes me so happy! My kids call that color "Becky Green" because it is my favorite!
Tomorrow a few of the CHF designers are doing a blog hop, so there will be loads of inspiration to be found! I love the project that I will be sharing tomorrow, so if you have a minute come visit and then check out the other girls, it will be loads of fun!

Sunday?

Seriously? Already?
Where did this last week go? Where did the entire Summer go?
The kids all go back to school tomorrow, and we did try to squeeze as much fun out of the season as we could, somehow I feel like I have missed the mark. They are mostly prepared to head back, we need some new clothes and such, but there is plenty of time for all that.
Laurel starts at the U tomorrow, and will be driving herself in the little red car that has the manual transmission, I am more nervous for her with the driving and parking thing than I am for the class part, what is wrong with that picture? She has eleven textbooks and they are heavy!
Chloe had a rough day yesterday, we were worried that it was her appendix, but it wasn't. She has an ovarian cyst and we will have to keep an eye on her to make sure that it resolves in the next few days. It sure causes her a lot of pain, and it makes me feel so bad for her. She is a tough girl, we are sure that she will be fine.
Went to a card swap group for the first time on Friday evening, and it was so fun! The girls are very creative and after we swapped cards, we decorated bags. I loved that, we sat and visited, ate junk food and played with paper some more. There are two Kelly's with the same birthday as well, that was fun to watch them figure that out together!

A Little Sneak Peek...

I thought it would be fun to share a little sneak peek of one of the next All Things Considered release, there are actually going to be two this month! Since we have been canning so much, a few of the jars have made their way to friends and neighbors, one went to a friend who fractured her collar bone in a biking accident. She had to have surgery after waiting a week and had been feeling pretty down at that point, so Chloe made her some fresh rolls, to go with a card and fresh jam. She came over a few days later when she was feeling better and got Chloe's roll recipe (out of the Paper Crafts Gourmet cookbook, so good!!) and let us know how much that had meant to her and her family. Made us feel good because sharing is FUN!!!
I will have some sneaks of the other set soon, so keep your eyes open!

It is finally finished!!!

I have been working on this little banner for a few months. It is for Penelope "Penny" Malan, the absolutely adorable daughter of Natalie and Dave Malan. I had fabric from Natalie that matches all of Penny's room decor, she also had gorgeous antique chandelier crystals and crepe paper that she wanted integrated into the design somehow. That is where it all began, but there were quite a few design solutions that I needed to figure out so that it would be perfect!
After thinking, cutting, glueing, sewing, gathering and crop-o-diling, I finally got all of the pieces in place, it made me so happy! The final construction day was yesterday, and I just love how it turned out, hopefully it is perfect for Penny and something Natalie will be happy to hang in her adorable room!

















































I have made a little jam on the side with my FAB crew, Chloe the "Crusher" and Dave the "Cleaner". I am of course the "Pot Stirrer". (What do you think of our new street names? Super Salt Lake don't ya think, LOL!) Well after a days hard work, we had some delish Rainer Cherry jam and Red Raspberry jam to show for our mess, it is supposed to be for the winter, but we are eating it and giving it away so fast, I think we will doing it again soon!
Anyway, I had to make some cute wraps for the ones that I was giving to Celeste. She is the mastermind behind a bunch of my favorite Basic Grey papers, and remember "Lemonade"? Well it was the perfect paper to jazz up the little jars that were going to her house. The good thing is that the jam tastes as good as the wraps look, so there is no deception in advertising there!

Oh Nuts...

It has been a rough month. Wish I could sugar coat it, but for the last few weeks I have been preparing my goodbyes with Cornish Heritage Farms. We are parting on good terms, the best possible, and I will continue to design art for them for right now. Both Julia and I were laid off, they operate with a zero debt policy (which I admire) and they would have had to go into dept to keep us on. I loved the duties and challenges that came with my job and I will miss it very much. And I am glad the I have the opportunity to create art. There are many changes throughout our lives and while this one is hard, I am sure that I will learn and grow from the experience.
So while I am not sure what is next professionally for me, this is what I do know:
I love crafting of all kinds and will keep creating all of the wacky ideas that come into my head. So there will be stamping, scrapping, fabric, buttons and gems everywhere. I want to get better behind my camera, learn more about photoshop and illustrator and maybe even try a little quilting! And I am going to make more time to try new things! There are so many fun techniques, and crafts to explore. One of the upsides of not having a job is that I will also have more time for my kids, and that has always been a priority for me, but now I won't feel like I am juggling so much maybe. And I want to walk a little slower, smell the flowers a little more often and look at the clouds that are passing by.
Trying to decide where I fit into the industry, do I pursue another job? I feel like I have tons to offer, but not sure where it is I fit now. Kind of a strange inbetween place. I had one of my proudest publishing moments this month when one of my projects made the front cover of Paper Crafts! The little Spooky Bag was so fun to do, and took only a few minutes! The "Oh nuts" card is in there too, and it sums up today perfectly. For sure I will continue to submit projects for publication. I do enjoy the magazines so much and hope that they are around forever. Just not quite the same on the computer screen. Oh I do love to catch up with what is new and Moxie Fab online, but sitting with a glass of lemonade and flipping leisurely through the lates mag is a pastime I hope I get to enjoy for many years!
So today I need a hug. Just one more week, and then I am getting released into the pond.
Anyway, to make myself feel better I want to do something for someone else, leave a comment by Sunday at midnight, and I will pick someone on Monday to receive my August release of All Things Considered "School Primer".

Make Yourself Comfortable

It has been a while since a post, and hectic is a great way to describe life right now! Trying to keep up with deadlines, finishing up the Summer Stamp Star contest (going to announce the overall winner very soon!!) husband traveling alot and getting the boy ready and out for a week long hike with his scout trip in the high mountains has kept me hopping!
So I wish I had a new project to share, but they are all for other stuff. So instead, a few pictures of the bad babies and how they spend most of their day. That is my bed, and I do actually make it everyday, but you would never know this by how it looks after they get comfortable on it. And they are both often on it together, all snuggly and cute!! How Novak squeezes himself under the bed like that is an act of contortion that you have to see to believe, and watching him get out is even more awkward, but he sleeps like that at least a couple of times a day, it is his little doggie cave. BTW, the height of his lung carriage is about 8 inches taller than the height of the bed, it is some weird math. We wash the linens and bed spread all the time, but when they come in with dog paws that usually have been digging or running through the grass and dirt, we just can't keep up with the maintenance at times. Climbing into bed to find doggy dust is really icky. And heaven forbid if Nikolay decides that he wants to snuggle with us at night, he is a bag of bones (they both are) and just lays on top of whomever, if that is where he wants to be.

ATC School Primer

Another one of my stamp set designs went up today!
It is called School Primer, and I just love it!
I have left a couple of sneak peeks, but I am excited to share the whole set with you!
The spinner is the perfect way for me to keep track of names, numbers and notes for my everyday life. I love the base for this set stamped on the manila card that comes with the spinner and then whether it is a note for something that is recurring or an address of a friend, I am good to go! I am terrible at having a hard copy of addresses, so I hope that this will help me keep track of them and keep them handy for when I am sending out notes or packages. I might not have to search my gmail as often, LOL!

It has been a really busy week with CHF, I just got my two new sets for September in the mail, and they are cut out and ready for ink! And also got art for October turned in that will be with the Rummage Bin line and it is super fun as well! So inspired right now, I wish I had more time to get my thoughts captured. But it is all good, I gotta make sure that I leave myself some time to play with all of the goodies!

Happy Birthday to Me!!

How old am I?
Not telling, but do you really want to know anyway?


It was quite the delightful day! I took it off from work, and played tennis for a few hours with girls who love me so much they wanted to give me a bruise for a birthday gift(that is a lot in tennis speak!), had some delish lunch with Sis Roxanne and Julie and then had a wonderful visit with my FAB friends at Paper Crafts and Creating Keepsakes, and then a delicious dinner prepared by my sweet husband! I was a little mopey the two previous days to be honest, with Tyler out of the country, Kim in New York and other little things swirling around, it seemed that this year things would be harder for me on a day that should be a party. I feel so loved that so many dear friends shared their kindness with me, I am a very lucky girl! All of them made it one of my best birthdays ever, and if you really want to know how lucky I am, go to Julia's blog and see the card she stuck into the mail for me!

So Glad That...

This day is almost done. What a wacky Monday. I have a lot of things that have been in dynamic balance for a while, and in the last week alot of it has started to change again. I have a large life change that I can talk about more in a few days, and my kids have their own huge milestones as well.

So this morning started out a little too early. We had the whole family over yesterday to celebrate birthdays, and it was raucous to say the least! We had a beautiful dinner that Dave prepared and then s'mores out at the firepit! We know how to eat around here, that is for sure! But we were exhausted and didn't get to bed in a timely manner, yikes! Let me tell you that getting to the DMV in time to see the line at the front door going through the parking lot before they open for business is something that I don't mind waiting five years for. Whilst halfway through my paperwork the very kind clerk says "oh, by the way, did you know that your license is suspended?"
Ummmmmmmmmmmmm...

No. How long has it been that way and why?"

So you can see the beginnings of a very long day there, right? It was a simple thing to clear up, but required a phone call that couldn't be made until another government office opened at nine that could fax over paperwork that somehow hadn't made its way there before. That is what everyone needs on a Monday, one more trip to the DMV, right? So at least while we were there the first time, Chloe passed her permit exam with flying colors and will be terrorizing the local neighbors with her inability to make decisions and concientious, yet overly cautious driving. Better than the other way though I think. My license is all sorted now as well, and I have to add that the people who assisted me today were all the kindest DMV employees I have ever had the pleasure of doing government business with.
Then it was back to home to walk the bad babies in the heat of the late morning, just around the block and they were wilted, so it was home for them where they could nap on mommy's bed and have ice bones for snacks.
The afternoon progressed into getting work done, finishing up last minute details on projects that are going in for pub and the ensuing paperwork. I really do love so much the crafting, but the paperwork is not anyone's favorite part I would have to guess. Sprinkled in between that were emails that reminded me that change is on the horizon and that got me a bit melancholy.
So I thought I would share with you what the remains of my day are, and a little sneak of the ATC set that releases next Tuesday. The bookmark will be accompanying me to my snug little bed that will be crowded by bony dogs and a snoring husband. But the book will be the key to starting tomorrow with a fresh and perky attitude for tomorrow.

Happy Birthday Card and a Sneak Peek All In One!

It is Teresa's birthday today, hope you had a happy day friend! I made a little card for her, and I used her brand new product line called "Friendship" that is a gorgeous combination of black, blue, white and cream. Very elegant! I then used stamps from my new stamp set in the ATC collection that is called "School Primer". The sneak peek is the little alphabet tutorial and the lined frame. Stamped with Cloud Blue Adirondack pigment ink for the best match to the colors of Teresa's line and then the black is Archival. It will be released on August 4th, and it is so fun! The sentiment is from the Mona Lisa Moments and is a sneak peek as well, you will use this set for everything, it has so many wonderful phrases. This Zva crystal flourish is the perfect accent, it adds just a little touch of whimsy while keeping with the elegant theme of the card.
Kim and I had a wonderful evening spent with Megan enjoying a bite of salad and then a delish porcupine. A much appreciated spot of sunshine for the day!
Very sad that I will be taking Kim and the kids to the airport at 5:00 am, first that is a pretty awful hour, LOL! But second, I will miss their presence in our home very much. We have grown to love and enjoy them even more than before, didn't think it was possible, but it was. Can't plan a trip to Phoenix soon enough! Anyone for a road trip? Won't be until it cools down there a bit, so you have plenty of time to plan.
Have loads of work to catch up with, and some art to work on. Very grateful for the distractions for sure.

Wow, what a week!

It has been quite the whirlwind around here, sorry to have bored you with an old post! Must have felt very stale around here, LOL!
Kim and I have been really busy with the kids, but we did take a little time for ourselves and spent it with a few good friends cropping at Heartland on Saturday evening. It was so fun, we laughed tons, ate really delicious junk food and I even got two layouts made!

Carter got out on an overnighter with the Boy Scouts, and has his 14th birthday tomorrow! He is the baby, but such a big boy, it all goes too fast doesn't it!

I have lots of interesting things that have kept me busy, and Dave is traveling this week. It keeps me pretty honest, LOL! Hard to get into much trouble when you don't have much free time, right?

Anyway, I am hoping to get a project done in the next few days with my next stamp set that is releasing on August 4th, I am really excited about this one, it is so fun!!! Will try to share sneak peeks asap!

Sharing a quick layout of Chloe that makes me smile every time I look at it! She has a look for every occasion, and not all of them are sweet...

You can almost always tell what she is thinking by what she is wearing on her beautiful face. I thought that warranted a layout of its own. I love how "sassy" Sassafrass is, and it this sheet of paper had the perfect colors and images to make my vision happen!

Really enjoying the time we have with Kim and her kids! We went to the midnight showing of Harry Potter last night, and we are all trashed today, but it was so amazing! So worth the few hours of lost sleep!

Loads going on with CHF as well, we have so many releases coming out that I am excited about! We are trying hard to knock everyone's socks off!

Off to the land of nod to gather some much needed zzzzzzzzzzz's!

I had a great time making this fun little card, going to send it off to Tyler this week! It took awhile, I won't deceive you there, but it is so cute when you open it and the Gnome Guy pops up! I think he will get a huge kick from it, and will have a great reminder of home and mom!
It feels weird to not be prepping to go to CHA this summer. I am relieved that I am not frantic right now, but will miss seeing so many friends and all of the new product releases. That is always worth whatever I have had to deal with to get to that point!
I hope everyone going has a great show and can't wait to hear more details from everyone! At CHF we are always releasing, so it is less imperative for us to be at shows. But we will soon be working on plans for CHA Winter, so I'm not off the hook for long.
The summer seems to be flying by, the kids have had a wonderful, busy week, so that keeps them happy. It also keeps me busy getting them where they are supposed to be. Chloe's week at Bio-Tech camp was a huge success for her, and at the end of the week when she and her equally talented and competitive lab partner earned a third place nod for their presentation of their results. That was exciting to see, and she was competing against a bunch of kids who are older, so proud of her for working so hard!
Anyway, my lazy day is calling me. I am going to spend some time catching up with the kids and chatting with Kim while I have her here. Also have some crafting that I have been dying to do, good times, I just love summers!

Wow, it is Wednesday all ready!

It has been a wild and wacky week already, and it is only Wednesday! My latest stamp set with the All Things Considered line was released yesterday! I made the card using the set, and I am very excited about it! There is a give away on the CHF Be Creative blog for it!

With so much going on at the Farm, and here at home, I am not sure whether I am coming or going sometimes. We had a delightful 4th, hope you did too! We had 22 family and friends over on Saturday, and a good chunk of that number ended up staying on a sofa, bed or piece of floor somewhere, so fun!!!

I hope that you are enjoying your summer days and that they aren't sliding by too fast. (Mine are, not sure what to do about that either, any suggestions?)

Happy 4th of July

We have a happy house full of guests and excitement, so I don't want to be away from that for too long! So just a quick little "hi" and a card put together with some goodies from a Studio Calico kit. Hope you have fun, enjoy some fireworks and eat some tasty food! Take a moment to enjoy all that our freedom brings to you, and then take another to remember the troops that have made that possible both past and present!

A sneak peek!

I am so excited that my newest set releases next Tuesday along with a fabulous new Rummage Bin and Mona Lisa Moments! I have a little sneak project that I made with a few of the elements from the set. Some Pink Paislee paper and Distress inks in Broken China, Peeled Paint, and Pine Needles. Vintage Text Scrapblock is what it is matted onto.
We are having a lot of fun this week, Kim and her kids are wonderful company! Last night we roasted marshmallows in our freshly dug firepit in the backyard! Of course the s'mores were delish!!!
The Summer Stamp Star Design Challenge is going strong, there are some really great projects being uploaded daily, head over for a peek if you are curious, and you still have plenty of time is you want to participate!

Really looking forward to celebrating the 4th of July this weekend. I was trying to get to Ashland, Oregon for my class reunion, but it didn't come together. But that is okay, we will have a great time with family and friends, roasting, grilling and eating!!! Of course there will be fireworks as well!

The Summer Stamp Star Design Challenge is on!

The gallery is open for uploads for the entire week. So color your little heart out on a few projects, and then pick your favorite to share!!!
I love to participate in challenges as well, and since I am not eligible to play in this one, I found one that Annabelle O'Malley had given over at InspireMe, the Webster's Pages community. The day had already been a blur of card making, so I thought why not make one for that challenge while I was at it? Trust me, after finishing 8 cards all with varying stamping techniques, I was ready for a quick card! The paper did all the heavy lifting, I just put some of that gorgeous Distress Crackle paint on the Maya Road bird and when it dried another light layer of Distress Stickles over the wing. A quick fussy cut on the leaves and some foam squares for some dimension and it was done! Thanks for the challenge Annabelle!
So my point is use the challenges as inspiration, then watch how fast it all comes together! Taking the question out of what to do next helps so much!!

Card Creations 7 is da BOMB!!

I just got my copy in the mail today, and I have already thumbed through it a few times! It is organized in such a useful way, and there is loads of great inspiration and fun projects that are just flat out eye candy! The card that I had picked up for that didn't have any stamping, but I loved it just the same! It was such a goofy little card that I almost didn't submit it, but boy am I glad that I did! Growing up we had s'mores all the time, we camped alot as a family and every summer at girls camp they would have them there as a treat too! So when I saw this on the cut strip sheet, I knew it was a card that I would love to give and get! Isn't it funny the things that get you inspired?

It is a Wimbledon Wednesday!

I have been a little under the weather, a bit of a head cold has been plaguing me. A lot of sneezing, snurching and blowing has occured. The pile of tissues has been growing, LOL! But it has been easy convalescing because the Wimbledon tennis tournament is going strong and has been fantastic to watch.

I thought I would share another little paper piecing project. I used Kim's Little Guy set to stamp the cute frog prince with "Soot" Distress Ranger ink on My Mind's Eye paper, trimmed out and stamped again on one of MME's cute frames backed with a water colored piece of paper and the base of the card is stamped with the AlphaNumber backgrounder in "Lettuce" Ranger Adirondack ink.

Just a few more days until the Summer Stamp Star Design Challenge starts, I am so excited about this whole contest!! I hope that a few of you can find some time to play along!!

CHF Creative Chicks Blog Hop!

Hope everyone had a super weekend and spoiled their daddy guys! We had the family over and my husband cooked up a storm. I offered to do it all, but he wanted to take care of it. Seriously, how lucky am I? We enjoyed a wonderful afternoon, and because Dave is a great cook, we all ate ourselves silly!!! The burgers were fab, but I think the winning dish was the marinated pork loin that was grilled to perfection and then topped with a cantaloupe salsa, delish!! Thanks babe!!!

I bet most of you didn't come to visit to hear me talk about food though ;o)

It is a bloggy hop with all of the Cornish Heritage Farms Creative Chicks, and these girls are on fiyah! We all picked one of the Summer Stamp Star Design Challenges and gave it a go. That way if someone who might be on the fence about playing along with us needs a little inspiration or a kick in the pants, we got it for ya! I chose the paper piecing challenge. All of these techniques are so fun in my opinion, but the extra dimension that you get from piecing really floats my boat! I used stamps from the "Pretty Birds" and "Summer Trees" that are both in the Kim Hughes Collection. Various patterned papers are from My Mind's Eye, October Afternoon, and Fancy Pants. The ink I used for the whole project was Ranger's Distress Ink in "Walnut Stain". I used my little Fiskars scissors for most of the cut work, but an exacto worked best for the fence details (and was quicker).

Scrappy Saturday Stuff!

Spent the evening with Kim last night scrapping and yapping, always a great time! We are missing Tyler, but hearing from him very consistently, very grateful that he is a wonderful writer! I had made this layout a few weeks ago, but it took me a bit to get the journaling written in, typical for me, LOL! I have piles of layouts waiting for a little story or a few little embellishments to be added before I consider them done, a little embarrassing to admit actually...

I made a few fun cards last night, but they need a few finishing touches before I can share them. The CHF Challenge Chicks are doing a blog hop on Monday, so I am working on that project as well! Will be very fun and have loads of inspiration for the Summer Stamp Star Design Challenge I think. CHF is also having a great sale right now, 10% off of everything in the store, such a rarity to have a sale, and there are so many must haves, good thing to check out if you have time!

A little rainy here today, so I am going to try to get some of those projects out of the pile and into the finished category, that will be a very good thing!

Winner of ATC Botanical Bliss set!

This is what the "ATC Botanical Bliss" set looks like in its entirety! I just love all of the elements in this, and see myself trying to sneak them into lots of little hidden places on a project!

We just got a few months more of this line into production before I left for our trip, and can I just say that I am just as excited (or more if that is even possible!) about them. Anyway, when the time comes to share, you can bet that I will be shouting from the rooftop about those as well!

Dave and I had a very relaxing time on our trip. We did spend a substantial amount of time on planes, but it was well worth it for the time that we had in the ocean! The resort we stayed at was called Couples San Souci (here is a picture I took a picture from one of the outdoor restaurant areas) and it was incredible. So quiet and the grounds were visually stunning. We really got spoiled there, and now that we are home we don't want to lift a finger for ourselves, LOL! Laurel had her 18th birthday (Happy Birthday!!!) while we were gone and we were very sad that we had to schedule over her to enjoy time on our anniversary, but we brought her home some lovely little birthday things to make up for it (I hope it works!)
