What is UEA?

UEA weekend is here, and as a family, we are ready to have a long rest! When we moved to Utah 12 years ago we had this break in the school year in the fall that we just didn't understand. What is this UEA weekend about? What does it mean? The acronym is for Utah Education Association. The school teachers have a convention and union meetings, and yes, they take Thursday and Friday off to do these meetings. This means that kids that are tired, and parents that are tired of their tired kids, get a break! And right about now it is really appreciated! As for the teachers, you know they are even more grateful for a respite than the rest of us, LOL! We have sleeping in to do, fall pictures to take, and lots of television to watch!
So if you had an extra four quiet days to your family what would you do?

I always thought UEA meant deer weekend - since it always corresponds with the deer hunt - we moved here from AZ years ago and STILL think it is wierd - but 4 days off school is GOOD! :)

Hmmmm... We have been talking about doing this, so maybe it's what the Francos would do with 4 quiet days....A train trip to Chicago to go the American Girl store and Shedd Aquarium....and of course, many other wonderful things..Or we could stay home and paint the fence... it DOES need it.....;-)

want to hear something weird. i KNOW kayla, the first commentor. we lived in the same shambbled apartment house when we were both newlyweds. i ran into her at CK media's site and sure enough, it was her. ask her about the crazy apartment on 5th west in provo. good stories. scary stories. so how do you guys know each other?

oh and we went to an outdoor sculpture garden last weekend. it was nice.

We are spending our "Fall Break" doing those little family things we don't get to do once school starts... movies, you must see that Chihuahua movie it was super cute, lunch date with Dad downtown, making Halloween treat bags for the teachers, catching up on our tivo'd episodes of Jon and Kate plus 8, Tom and Jerry, and If Walls Could Talk. It's just so nice to be home with C. Have a great weekend Becky!

The funny thing about UEA is hardly any teachers I know actually attend all those meetings! Our school calls it "Fall Break" instead of UEA now. Interesting, but I love the break!
